Connell and Callister got into the new charter school, Alturas International Academy, this fall. Connell is in 4th grade and Callister is in Kindergarten. (He goes from 12:05pm to 3:15pm.) Connell's teacher is Mrs. Yates and Callister's is Mrs. Andersen. This charter school focuses on using group learning to aid in teaching the kids. So they have combined classrooms, like Connell has 4, 5, and 6th graders in his class. They sit at tables and do a lot of group and partner work. Connell is enjoying it and doing really well. Callister is struggling with the transition of going to school, but he is also learning a lot and I have hopes he will learn to enjoy it! Their school did a big Christmas program with the Capitol Christmas tree, which was picked from Idaho, and the big potato. They sang Christmas songs and got to do fun activities. The kids of course loved it!
